A scavenger hunt has two places: players are in the app on their phone, the organizer is in the web dashboard on a laptop. Mixing up those two roles is the fastest way to create confusion, so here's exactly what the organizer does, before and during the hunt.
Before the start: writing and preparing assignments
The organizer marks out the play area on the map and writes the assignments themselves. Count on 30 to 60 minutes, most of the time goes into coming up with the assignments. That can happen weeks or months in advance.
During the hunt: judging photos, not playing along
Every submitted photo comes in to the organizer on their laptop. They decide whether an assignment was completed and approve or reject it, adding a reason if they want. They don't play along themselves, that's a role, not a spot on a team.
Add a second judge
The organizer can add a user to help judge. Useful when the group is large, and more fun to debate that one borderline photo together.
The photos stick around afterward
Submitted photos are still there once the hunt is over. Save the best ones as a memory of the day.
